Learning at the Workplace

How do I learn at the workplace?

It simply comes through the interactions and chats which I share with my coworkers. It can just be of 5 minutes duration or even less than that. My worthy seniors, most of them are women so I am lucky to run into them at the restroom and even there we do engage in knowledge transfer.

I lunch with a group which has so much diversity. There are instructional designers, graphic designers, quality analyst, technical writer and software developers. I get a comprehensive look at what all are thinking and feeling about particular issues. What this group lacks is a project lead. My first visit to this office was better. I sat for lunch with our delivery head along with the marketing head and another senior manager. I felt really nice and I miss doing that. How much I could learn from them. I just do not have any solution to this dilemma.

One of our senior managers had been an ID once. I should have guessed because she always had such good observation skills and ideas. I am sure just sitting with her for a day will be equal to striking a jackpot. Formal training just do not work for me, practical training does. Formal meetings are also a good source of knowledge. And then that which eludes me. How could I get to meet her more?
